International Personal Data Transfer Agreements: How SCCs Enable Global Data Flows and Protect Privacy -New book about SCC

Cross-border data transfers are a cornerstone of the global digital economy.
But moving personal data across borders raises a key legal question: how can privacy protections follow the data worldwide?

In my new book, International Personal Data Transfer Agreements, I explain how standard contractual clauses (SCCs) have become the most effective legal tool to enable international data flows while safeguarding privacy rights.

To my knowledge, this is the first book entirely dedicated to SCCs, offering a comprehensive analysis of all existing models worldwide.

The book is dedicated to the memory of Professor Joel R. Reidenberg, a pioneer of global privacy law.

The book traces the evolution of SCCs as the leading global mechanism for lawful international data transfers and provides a comparative analysis of models from the EU, UK, Brazil, China, ASEAN, and Latin America. It places special emphasis on the Ibero-American Data Protection Network (RIPD) model clauses, a major step toward regional harmonization of data protection standards.

The objective is clear: to help lawyers, regulators, and companies understand how well-designed contracts can support global data flows without compromising fundamental rights.
